Printing with Contrast and lino inks – charcoal, soot and other tonal mediums such as tea, tumeric, coffee. This workshop addresses dramatic, bold and contrasting effects with print and inks. A large amount of charcoal and other tonal mediums will be used on large scale paper to allow for exploration of medium textures and smudging techniques. A 30 minute session will be included to allow attendees to make their own simple tonal wax crayon to take home. This activity alone makes this session suitable for both adults and older teens. Exploration of numerous drawing techniques will encourage people to try something new whilst being in a natural and beautiful setting. Conversation and discussion will bring expressive words we can use in the imagery. Shapes and expressions are so useful to carve out on a page and push the charcoal, soot, spices, herbs and roll them into the materials and layers of the liquids. Recording conversation and words that describe the ingredients to create expressive interest.
